Recently, X Square Robot Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “X Square Robot”) completed nearly 1 billion yuan in Series A+ funding. This round was led by Alibaba Cloud and CAS INVESTMENT, with participation from China Development Bank Capital, Sequoia Capital China, and INCE Capital, and follow-up investment from existing shareholders Meituan Strategic Investment Department, Legend Star, and Legend Capital. Notably, this lead investor, Alibaba Cloud, is investing in an embodied intelligence company for the first time.

Founded in December 2023 and established a branch in Beijing in March 2024, X Square Robot focuses on the research and development of a “universal embodied large-scale model,” providing a universal large-scale model foundation for robots. It is committed to building an integrated system architecture that unifies perception, planning, and control, and constructing a universal cerebrum-cerebellum system for robots, providing end-to-end capabilities from perception to action. The team’s self-developed basic model has reached world-leading standards and can train robots to perform complex and sophisticated physical operations.
In terms of software, as one of the first companies in China to implement end-to-end embodied intelligence big models, X Square Robot independently developed the “WALL-A” series of VLA (Vision-Language-Action) operational big models, building a unified cognitive and action framework. The company also pioneered an end-to-end embodied thought chain reasoning framework, conducting deep reasoning based on multimodal inputs and generating multimodal outputs, forming a complete closed loop of autonomous decision-making, execution, exploration, and reflection. During the middle of this year, the company was the first to achieve the realization of an embodied intelligence big model controlling a high-degree-of-freedom dexterous hand to perform complex operations. To promote the research and application of embodied intelligence big models, X Square Robot has open-sourced its developer-oriented embodied foundational model, “Wall-OSS,” and released the associated training code, enabling global developers to quickly fine-tune and apply it in their own implementations.
In terms of hardware, in August of this year, X Square Robot released the Quanta X2, a fully in-house developed wheeled, dual-arm humanoid robot. In less than six months, the company has independently developed a complete stack, including the robot itself, high-degree-of-freedom dexterous hands, and exoskeleton teleoperation and data acquisition equipment.
X Square Robot’s robots have already partnered with leading service and industrial clients and are being deployed in a variety of scenarios. In the future, X Square Robot will work with clients to build an open ecosystem around models and hardware to further advance embodied intelligence.
