Recently, in Longmen Industrial Park, Shiyan Economic Development Zone, Hubei Province, a series of L4-level cabless van logistics and distribution vehicles manufactured in Shiyan are being produced in an orderly manner, from assembly to production line. This batch of unmanned vehicles was jointly built by ZELOS and Dongfeng Group, and was first put into operation in the “vehicle-road-cloud integration” demonstration application scenario in Shiyan Economic Development Zone.
It is understood that on April 10, ZELOS signed cooperation agreements with Dongfeng Special Vehicle and Pengfei Group respectively. According to these agreements, they will give full play to their respective resource advantages and achieve “cross-border collaboration”. On the basis of the successful trial production of the first batch of prototypes, they will work together to produce a total of 2,000 new unmanned intelligent logistics and distribution commercial vehicles. At the same time, they will focus on a wider range of application scenarios, jointly develop new light trucks for autonomous driving, and further promote the development and application promotion of L4-level intelligent driving products.
It is reported that this is not the first large order for mass production of low-speed unmanned vehicles this year to be located in Shiyan. On March 20, in Maojian District, Shiyan City, the City Light Unmanned Driving Intelligent Manufacturing Base was completed and put into operation, and the first Guangbo V2 unmanned driving sweeper rolled off the production line, marking the official completion and production of the first phase of the base project.
The first fully automated assembly production line for unmanned driving sweepers in the first phase of the project was completed and put into production, with an annual production capacity of 3,000 unmanned driving sweepers and 5,000 wire-controlled chassis, and an estimated annual output value of over 2 billion yuan.
On February 8, the Honghu T70 intelligent tractor displayed at the Shiyan Municipal Administrative Center was particularly eye-catching. These vehicles come from Guoke Honghu Technology, located in Shiyan High-tech Zone. Three flexible production lines for intelligent agricultural machinery has been built in its intelligent agricultural machinery production and manufacturing headquarters base built in conjunction with the Chinese Academy of Sciences with an overall goal of 2,000 units off the production line throughout the year.
In addition to unmanned logistics vehicles, unmanned sweepers, and unmanned agricultural machinery, there are also unmanned buses made in Shiyan, which were announced to start mass production in 2023 and are currently being delivered and operated in many cities across the country…
New Strategy Low-speed Unmanned Driving All Media learned that Shiyan City enjoyed the reputation of “China’s Commercial Vehicle Capital”. “One cab rolls off the assembly line every 2.8 minutes, one Longqing engine and gearbox are launched every 3 minutes, and one Dongfeng commercial vehicle rolls off the assembly line every 1.5 minutes…” Therefore, the local automobile supply chain system is complete, from automobile screws to body, frame, axle assembly, from engine, gearbox to power battery, all parts manufacturers needed for automobiles can be found.
In recent years, Shiyan has focused on new energy and intelligent networking, cultivated and expanded commercial vehicles, special vehicles, and parts, and built a diversified product matrix of pure electric, fuel, hybrid, etc. In July 2024, Shiyan City was selected as the first batch of national pilot cities for the application of “vehicle-road-cloud integration” of intelligent networked vehicles. This strategic opportunity undoubtedly provides strong support for the selection of Shiyan for mass production and manufacturing of low-speed unmanned vehicles.
