On May 26, Sichuan Embodied Humanoid Robot Technology Co., Ltd. (“Embodied Technology” for short), established 8 months ago, officially announced the completion of tens of millions of yuan in angel round financing, and the company’s valuation reached hundreds of millions of yuan. The financing was strategically led by Ceyuan Ventures and Peikun Fund. The rapid injection of capital shows the market’s recognition of this young company, and also reflects the strong market potential and development space of the humanoid robot industry in the central and western regions.
Hardcore team + full industrial chain, breaking the “bottleneck” dilemma of humanoid robots
As the core incubation enterprise of the Robotics Research Center of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, the technical strength of Embodied Technology is not surprising. The core members of the company have long focused on international leading fields such as robot full-body motion control and multimodal perception fusion, and have deep technical accumulation.
In addition, the company has fully utilized the industrial advantages of the Chengdu area and established in-depth cooperation with the Sichuan Machinery Research Design Institute, a leader in precision manufacturing in the southwest, to achieve a comprehensive localization layout from core components to complete machine integration. “We are reshaping the humanoid robot industry ecosystem with Sichuan’s precision manufacturing genes.” The CTO of Embodied Technology revealed that the cost of its self-developed bionic joint modules is significantly lower than that of imported products.
At present, from a global perspective, humanoid robots are gradually moving out of the laboratory and moving towards various practical scenarios such as industrial inspection, logistics handling, and educational care. In the context of this industrial evolution, the positioning of Embodied Technology has strong industrial adaptability. It emphasizes the self-development of core modules and the rapid iteration of the whole machine, which not only improves the overall control and cost reduction space, but also meets the increasingly obvious dual needs of “cost control + general capabilities” in the current industry.
69 days to build the first commercial humanoid robot, running at “acceleration”
Another eye-catching feature of Embodied Technology is its rapid action and engineering capabilities in industrialization. Less than a year after its establishment, the company successfully launched the first commercial humanoid robot “Skywalker 1” in just 69 days with the support of the Sichuan Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, setting a new record for the fastest time from concept design to product landing in the central and western regions.
It is reported that the “Skywalker” series will first be piloted in the field of intelligent manufacturing. Its bipedal dynamic balance and complex terrain adaptation capabilities provide a good technical foundation for future applications in industrial inspections, security and duty, and other scenarios.
In January 2025, Skywalker 1 appeared at the Twin Towers to send blessings to citizens
Focusing on emotional drive, the first “warm” robot will be launched this year
It is worth noting that in addition to intelligent manufacturing scenarios, Embodied Technology is laying out a more forward-looking technical route-emotionally driven humanoid robots. Dr. Feng Zhenyu, CEO of the company, revealed at the financing press conference that the new financing funds would focus on the research and development of emotional drive engines, and plans to launch its first emotional interaction robot “EMO1” by the end of 2025 to achieve in-depth application of robots in education, medical care and service scenarios.
The product will be equipped with the company’s self-developed emotional recognition system, combined with micro-expression recognition, context analysis and tactile feedback, to support a more natural and anthropomorphic interaction method. At the same time, Embodied Technology has co-built the “Frontier Research Center for Interactive Humanoid Robots” with Tianfu Jiangxi Laboratory, and launched a brain-computer interface fusion project to explore a deeper level of human-machine symbiosis technology path.
From the perspective of industry development trends, the global attention to “embodied intelligence” is increasing. Future humanoid robots are no longer just “mechanical bodies” that perform simple actions, but will gradually undertake more complex cognitive and interactive tasks. Emotional computing, anthropomorphic interaction, and intelligent learning capabilities will become key indicators of the new generation of products.
Regional agglomeration has become a trend, and Chengdu has created the “third pole” of embodied intelligence
With the continuous emergence of innovative companies like Embodied Technology, Chengdu is expected to occupy an important place in the domestic humanoid robot industry in the future, becoming the “third growth pole” after the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta.
In recent years, Chengdu has actively promoted the construction of an integrated innovation system of “AI+manufacturing”, issued a series of supporting policies related to embodied intelligence, and attracted a group of hard technology start-ups to gather. The rapid financing of Embodied Technology has also set a benchmark effect for other robot projects in the region.
Compared with the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta, the central and western regions started later, but they have cost structure advantages, land and policy dividends, and a stable supply of engineering talents. In the future, as key technologies such as control algorithm optimization, multi-modal large model embedding, and enhanced autonomous operation capabilities mature, Chengdu is expected to form an embodied intelligent robot ecosystem with industrial competitiveness and drive the coordinated leap of the entire central and western high-tech industry.
