Recently, Khalifa Port, the flagship port of Abu Dhabi, UAE, has further accelerated the pace of intelligent upgrading and sustainable development transformation, and added 12 new energy unmanned container trucks Q-Truck from Westwell into actual operation.
It is understood that as early as 2021, CSP ADT took the lead in introducing Q-Truck, becoming the first terminal in the Middle East to deploy unmanned container trucks. Today, the addition of a new batch of unmanned container trucks has helped the port achieve another milestone breakthrough.

The manager of CSP ADT said, “As the first terminal in the Middle East to deploy unmanned container trucks, Westwell’s new energy unmanned container truck Q-Truck has injected ‘key momentum’ into the transformation and upgrading of our smart port with its excellent performance. Since it was put into operation, its full-stack unmanned driving technology has not only reduced the energy consumption of a single container at the terminal, but also effectively enabled the collection and distribution system with its excellent performance of ‘centimeter-level positioning + 7×24 hours’. Especially in extreme weather such as high temperature and sandstorms, Q-Truck still operates stably, ensuring the smooth and orderly operation of ships.”
He emphasized that in view of the stable operation of Q-Truck in the past and its contribution to the intelligent transformation of the terminal, CSP ADT has increased the number of unmanned container trucks this time to accelerate the large-scale operation of unmanned container truck operations. At the same time, electric container trucks will gradually replace traditional fuel container trucks, iterate green and clean energy equipment, and continue to improve the quality and increase the horizontal transportation capacity of the terminal. In the future, the terminal will explore the construction of the port smart brain driven by AI big models, so that the technology dividend can be truly transformed into customer trust and regional competitiveness, and set a benchmark for the intelligent transformation of global ports.
Q-Truck is a star unmanned driving product of Westwell. The vehicle adopts the unmanned driving perception engine with multi-task, multi-data source and multi-field of view self-developed by Westwell, providing a reliable basis for vehicle decision-making. At the same time, through fine tailoring and optimization, Westwellsuccessfully deployed advanced technologies such as BEV (Bird’s Eye View) and Transformer on the vehicle, further improving the perception and decision-making capabilities of Q-Truck. In the local tropical desert climate environment, even if the average temperature exceeds 40℃, it can still achieve stable operation all-weather and all-conditions.
At the same time, the unmanned driving fleet provides FMS vehicle management and dispatching system, equipped with self-learning intelligent decision-making algorithm, sustainable self-evolution and iteration, and smooth docking with the terminal TOS management system. FMS realizes multi-line task allocation at the fleet level through intelligent optimization of path planning, reduces docking time, congestion, emergency braking and other problems, realizes precise energy consumption management, and helps the terminal reduce carbon emissions.
