According to public information, the New Strategy Low-Speed Autonomous Driving Industry Research Institute has made incomplete statistics. In the first quarter of 2025, 115 new bidding results were announced in the China’s autonomous driving field, and the total service period amount disclosed by the projects was nearly 1.8 billion yuan.
In terms of project volume, among the 100 disclosed projects, most of them had a total amount of hundreds of thousands, with a total of 37 projects, mainly for the procurement of teaching aids. The second largest number was projects with a total amount of millions, with a total of 21 projects, mainly for cleaning and sanitation, and teaching aids-related projects.
2025 Q1 Distribution of the Volume of China’s Autonomous Driving Bid Winning Projects
Among them, the “Equipment Procurement Project for Mianyang Urban Travel Service and Park Multi-Scenario Autonomous Driving Pilot Application Pilot Project” had the highest amount, nearly 340 million yuan, and the service content included the provision of 230 autonomous driving vehicles (including buses, shuttles, unmanned retail, distribution, cleaning, security patrols, etc.), charging piles, dispatching systems, security monitoring equipment and other supporting facilities and data platform construction.
From the perspective of geographical distribution, Jiangsu Province, Guangdong Province and Shandong Province occupy the top three, among which Guangzhou ranks first as a city. It is worth mentioning that the projects disclosed by Suzhou City, Wuxi City and Nanjing City in Jiangsu Province are all unmanned sanitation projects, which shows that Jiangsu Province is also accelerating the popularization and application of autonomous sanitation technology this year.
2025 Q1 Regional distribution of domestic autonomous driving bid winning projects (TOP10 in quantity)
From the perspective of the field, among the 115 items counted above, commercial projects purchased in the market (mainly application projects in the field of low-speed autonomous driving) accounted for more than 68%, and teaching aids projects purchased by colleges and universities accounted for more than 23%. Compared with the previous statistics, it can be seen that the proportion of commercial projects has increased significantly, which also reflects that many places across the country are actively helping the commercialization of autonomous driving technology.
In particular, there are 29 cleaning and sanitation projects in the statistics, accounting for 24% of the total, and most of them are covered by projects in Anhui Province, Guangdong Province, Hunan Province, Jiangsu Province and Zhejiang Province. The following is a summary of the overall large-scale bid winning projects in the industry in the first quarter of 2025 (projects with a total amount of 10 million yuan during the service period).
